About Me

My photo
This blog is an amateur photographer's attempt to show how beautiful the world really is. He is drawn to the colors of nature like a moth to a candle light. What are showcased here are nature's grand display of colors at sunrise and sunset, beautiful beaches and off-the-beaten track locations in his beloved Philippines, waterfalls and some of nature's great sculptures, architectural gems, and other views from around SE Asia that he was fortunate to see at one point.

lake sebu twilight colors

Lake Sebu Twilight

I always try not to miss any sunset or sunrise whenever I travel. Those are the two most important times of the  day. Its like nature's Sunday best - she puts on her best colors and briefly shows off. She wouldn't wait for anyone, you have to be there.

So even after a day of shooting waterfalls in Lake Sebu and visiting T'nalak weavers (hope to post this soon), I mustered the energy to explore some sunset locations by the main lake.

While sunrise that day had some very interesting colors and moods, sunset was a treat on its own. What I like most about sunsets is that everything is winding down and slowly coming to a halt. In a place like Lake Sebu where even the busiest of hours still appears laid back, "winding down" is taken into a whole new level. Even the wind that evening seemed to understand that concept as it softly caresses the lake.

Twilight Fisherman

A local was fishing from a dugout canoe a few meters from where I was shooting. I asked him about his catch as he was about to leave. "Not much", he said. "I just do this to relax at the end of the day". It occurred to me that that is what I was actually doing. At the end of a very long day, I was actually looking forward to relaxing by shooting the sunset.

Lake Sebu Evening Colors

After seeing nature flaunt her best colors, the fact that my feet are buried in mud and the mosquitoes are already feasting on my legs seemed irrelevant and a minor inconvenience.
