Its still a pain to get there: hours away from the nearest airport and you'll also need to pass by some of the infamous towns in Cotabato and Maguindanao regions (part of southern Mindanao most people would rather not go to). The rough road from Alamada town to Upper Dado is sure to loosen a lot of bolts in your car (if you are to drive it there), and the habal-habal (motorcycle) ride driven by daredevils that will make you say a little prayer - extremely muddy during the rainy days and dusty on dry days . Not to mention the hike (up) going back from the waterfalls to where you'll leave your motorcycles!
Its still a treat to shoot, regardless of how challenging it is to get there. Its icy cold water as refreshing as ever if you care for a QUICK dip.
The place looked deserted, does it? Don't let these photos fool you, there were more than 50 people there that Saturday morning when took I this, relatively still a small crowd. You can't stop folks from "photo-bombing" or clowning in front of your camera, or "accidentally" splashing you.
But patience is indeed a virtue. They are bound to get hungry or cold (the water is icy cold!) soon, and will leave you in peace for a minute or two. During that sweet and short window you can compose and shoot all you want. Emphasis on the "short".
A blog follower asked me why these magnificent waterfalls are hard get to. My quick answer: because if they are too accessible, man will desecrate them in no time.
