About Me

My photo
This blog is an amateur photographer's attempt to show how beautiful the world really is. He is drawn to the colors of nature like a moth to a candle light. What are showcased here are nature's grand display of colors at sunrise and sunset, beautiful beaches and off-the-beaten track locations in his beloved Philippines, waterfalls and some of nature's great sculptures, architectural gems, and other views from around SE Asia that he was fortunate to see at one point.

manila bay: meeting an old friend

Manila Bay Sunset - Nov 17

And there she was, all dressed up to the nines. It's been a long time time since I last saw her but she did not seem to mind and still put on a great show.

I was talking about the Manila Bay sunset by the way :). Anyone in Metro Manila who is into photography, especially landscape and travel, has probably developed a love affair with the Manila Bay sunset.  During weekends we make pilgrimages to the bay, at exactly the same time, to witness a beautiful show: a large orange orb coming down to the horizon, followed by a blast of unbelievable colors.  Its like a date with Mother Nature, and you don't want to be late.

Manila Bay Sunset - Nov 17

I revisited my old haunt recently, after a long hiatus. After a while of shooting the bay sunset, we sometimes feel that the place has become a cliche, so we move to farther and more "exotic" locations. Cliche, maybe, but it still offers one of the best views of sunset in the metro.

Just like visiting an old friend, I was treated to a pleasant surprise. The bay can still excite, and I was shooting as if I was there for the first time. The light show was subtle and not overly dramatic, yet very pleasing.

Sunset in the tropics tend to be a very quick affair. So I did not have time to transfer locations for a different POV. Instead I just watched from the same spot the subtle changes in tones and intensity of the color until it climaxed to a beautiful rose-colored scene.

I guess the fire is still there, and it brought back a lot of happy shooting memories. My Manila Bay love affair has just been rekindled.

As a bonus, you can also shoot some nightscapes after the sun has gone down.

Wow!!! The best sunset indeed lies within the capital. I too am so awed by the intense hue it projects. Exquisite photos as usual. :)

I precisely had to thank you so much all over again. I’m not certain the things I could possibly have accomplished in the absence of those suggestions shared by you relating to my interest.
